Star Academy Students Discover Ancient Egypt at the Museum of Fine Arts
WELLESLEY, MA – As part of our social studies curriculum, Star Academy Middle School students visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. This field trip focused on the Ancient Egyptian collection from the 2nd and 3rd millennia BCE.
During the visit, students explored real sarcophagi containing mummies, ancient papyri with letters to deceased relatives, and examined hieroglyphics and statues of prominent Egyptian officials. The primary goal was not only to showcase these ancient artifacts but also to explain the principles of historicism and illustrate the connection between the ancient world and modern culture.
We appreciate the Museum of Fine Arts for the excellent organization of the tour and look forward to planning our next visit very soon!
