Star Academy Middle and Upper School Students Begin the Year with Annual Retreat at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac

WELLESLEY, MA – Today marked the conclusion of our three-day Middle and Upper School retreat at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac — a beloved Star Academy tradition that begins each academic year. This year was no exception, as our students once again came together to strengthen friendships, build community, and set the tone for the months ahead.
Over the course of the retreat, students paddled canoes across the lake, hiked mountain trails, played sports, and enjoyed swimming under the late-summer sun. Evenings were spent around the campfire, roasting sausages and sharing stories that will be remembered long after the trip. These experiences, while joyful, also serve a deeper purpose: they foster teamwork, resilience, and a sense of belonging that define the Star Academy spirit.
For our seniors, the retreat included the special tradition of welcoming the sunrise together atop Monument Mountain — a symbolic beginning to their final year of high school.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated chaperones who made this retreat safe, inspiring, and memorable. The bonds formed at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac will continue to guide our students throughout the school year.
